Tap Charges

WHEAT RIDGE WATER DISTRICT TAP SCHEDULE    AS ADOPTED BY ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS ON 1-11-2022

These fees are in addition to Denver Water System Development Charges which also apply to the area of the Wheat Ridge Water District. Denver Water SDS charges are available online

In addition to the below fees, applicants shall also pay for any new meter and radio required for the tap, as well as all plan review and charges of the Wheat Ridge Water District Consulting Engineer.

All projects involving hydrants, mains, tap charges, transfers or exchanges will require the following initial deposit against review and engineering charges prior to the start of such reviews:

New Single-Family home, tap transfer or exchange$250.00
New Duplex with either single tap or two taps, transfer, or exchange$500.00
New Multi Family Developments of up to six units, transfer, or exchange$1,000.00
New Multi Family Development of six units or greater, transfer or exchange$2,000.00
Fire Line or Hydrant Review, Engineering and Easement work$2,000.00
Temporary Tap Review and Engineering$2,000.00
Any Project Requiring Main Additions or Modifications$2,000.00

 

The deposit will be credited against actual costs of plan review and the charges of the Consulting Engineer. If the deposit is more than actual charges, a refund will be made; if the charges are higher an invoice will be sent for the balance, which must be paid at the time of your tap application to Wheat Ridge Water District.

1.  Single Family Residential Base Charge Per Residential Tap:                     $7,000.00

 

Applicability: Licenses for individual single family ¾” residential taps within the Wheat Ridge Water District service area. System Development Charges are due and payable prior to issuance of a license to the customer. Single family rates also apply to duplexes or multi unit developments with individual taps and meters for each unit.

 

2.  Multi Family Residential (Duplexes up to any greater number of units)

 

Charge for first two units served through a single tap$10,000.00
Charge per unit for next six household units$2,500.00
Charge per unit over eight household units$1,500.00

Applicability: Licenses for multifamily residential taps within the Wheat Ridge Water District service area. System Development Charges are due and payable prior to issuance of a license to the customer.

Large planned residential developments involving several buildings constructed simultaneously may be charged as if the development is on one tap, provided that the development is required to build substantial main improvements for the district to support the development, and the district water system, and the manager supports such method of charging in the interest of the Wheat Ridge Water District, and the City of Wheat Ridge. The cost of taps 3” or larger may be adjusted by the Board of Directors to reflect the cost of additional mains serving the projected tap.

 

3. Commercial Non-Residential

 

Applicability: Licenses for all other taps within the Wheat Ridge Water District service area. System Development Charges are due and payable prior to issuance of a license to the customer. The cost of taps three” or larger may be adjusted by the Board of Directors to reflect the cost of additional mains serving the projected tap. The final tap price will be determined after consultation with the District Engineer as to the actual cost of serving taps larger than 3”.

Fire Lines:          $300.00 per inch

Hydrant Meter     Refundable Deposits per Hydrant meter program, equipment rental charges, plus consumptions charges of $40.00 per month base charge, plus $10.00 per thousand gallons usage charge.

Temporary Taps $1,500.00 tap fee, plus billed at the commercial rate of $6.25 per thousand usage charge.

 

NOTE: A PLOT PLAN SHOWING GROSS LOT SIZE MUST ACCOMPANY ALL REQUESTS FOR WATER TAPS. APPLICANT SHALL ALSO SUBMIT A PRELIMINARY PLAN FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE SITE.
